🔥 Fire: Get Out. Stay Out.
Fire is not the moment to collect belongings or prove courage. Sound the alarm, move, and call from outside.
The fire battle drill
- Shout — "Fire! Fire! Fire!" Alert everyone while moving.
- Get low — Move below the smoke. Keep going.
- Check the exit — If the door or handle is hot, use the second exit.
- Get out — Leave the phone, bag, and belongings.
- Close doors — Close, don't lock, doors behind you.
- Meet — Go to the agreed spot away from the building.
- Call 911 — Give the address first. Report anyone missing.
- Stay out — Return only when officials say it's safe.
Fight the fire — or leave?
Use an extinguisher only when all three are true: the fire is small and contained, you've been shown how to use it, and a clear exit is directly behind you.
P.A.S.S. — Pull the pin, Aim at the base, Squeeze the handle, Sweep side to side.
No exceptions
Never pour water on a grease fire. Never block your own exit. If the fire spreads, smoke thickens, or you're uncertain — leave immediately and call 911.
