CheckIs the scene safe? Is the person responsive and breathing? Is there life-threatening bleeding?

Call911 for serious injury, breathing problems, unresponsiveness, or severe bleeding.

CareDirect pressure for bleeding, keep the person still, maintain temperature, monitor changes.

Quick actions — not a substitute for training

Severe bleedingCall 911. Gloves if available. Firm, steady direct pressure with gauze or clean cloth.

BurnRemove from source. Cool water 5–20 min. No ice, butter, or creams. Cover loosely.

Suspected fractureKeep the area still and supported as found. Do not straighten or move unless dangerous.

ShockCall 911. Control bleeding. Keep comfortable, maintain temperature, monitor breathing.

Never assume Someone else called 911. Assign one person by name and confirm the call was made.
