🚗 Vehicle Emergencies

The mechanical problem is only half the problem. Roadside exposure, weather, and poor decisions create the real danger.

When your car stops

  1. Hazards on — Immediately.
  2. Move if possible — Safe, level location away from traffic.
  3. Read the scene — Traffic, shoulder width, darkness, weather.
  4. Stay or exit — If exiting means traffic exposure, stay belted and call for help.
  5. Call with location — Road, direction, nearest exit, landmark, vehicle description.

Keep the trunk kit and glove-box documents current — see the Vehicle Emergency Kit in Kits & Checklists for the full list.
